The Fabulous Divya Chandra

Divya Chandra – Actor, Director & Playwright

Divya Chandra is on a quest to understand life and empowered living. Her explorations have led her to the stage, to dancing, singing, theatre movement, yoga and energy work. Her journey as an actor, director & playwright has given her a unique eye and an understanding in to the limitations we put on ourselves. As an actor, Divya is committed to work on projects that break the certified notions of glam and affectation prefixed with the profession, framing new foundations of transformative-mission oriented art.

As a writer & director she aims to create work that transcends  cultural confines in story-telling, co- creating opportunities for like-minded artists to explore and re-define 'performance' as a movement for self-discovery. Her goal is to spread awareness about our relationship to the environment, responsible advertising & the changing role of women in the shifting paradigm of gender dynamics. Divya has worked on several Indian and international projects, collaborating with directors, filmmakers and artists to create conscientious work escalating both the ‘self’ and societal awareness.

Divya wrote and directed her first play "Sangam: Where The Three Rivers Meet" in 2010. She is working on a documentary film currently titled "The Awakening" and she is working on a new play.

In 2009 Divya founded BooGio11 Productions with an intention to revamp the current paradigm in the theatre & film realm in India, returning it to its more organic roots as a means to self discovery, transformation and value creation. The aim of the company has been to be a collaboration of like-minded artists towards initiating projects that create value for both the artists and the audience, rather than just to exist as a business entity.

The intent is to create projects  to bring back, organic elements that go into making a play. Yet employing all the new ingredients that we have at our disposal at present –  high technology in terms of light and sound, multimedia etc and marrying those with the timeless elements  of music,  dance, mythology & spirituality  to create works of art that blend modern efficiency with the depth of tradition.
